THE CRUEL PRINCE
BY HOLLY BLACK

I'm gonna be honest, I don’t know that I can write a summary of this book myself because I'm not convinced that I even know what this book is about. So, here's the one from the back of the book… "Jude was seven when her parents were murdered and she and her two sisters were stolen away to live in the treacherous High Court of Faerie. Ten years later, Jude wants nothing more than to belong there–but many of the fey despise humans. Especially Prince Cardan, the youngest and wickedest son of the High King. To win a place at the Court, Jude must defy him–and face the consequences."
I’m confused. Other than me not understanding the workings of this world, I would say I followed the plot line well, I just didn’t get the motivation behind it. Why not just leave and go back to the human world? What’s the point?

THE WICKED KING
BY HOLLY BLACK

Jude is now in charge, with King Cardan having to do whatever she says. The Sea Queen decides that Cardan must marry her daughter in order for the “Sea” to stay loyal to the King. When he refuses, the Sea Queen retaliates.
The only thing this series has going for it is the cliff hangers, otherwise I dare say this would be one of the flattest storylines I have ever read. Everything in this series so far could have been avoided if Jude just went back to the human world. Maybe that’s taking the easy way out… but I just can’t find the motivation for her to be staying here.

THE QUEEN OF NOTHING
BY HOLLY BLACK

After Jude has been exiled by the “Wicked King”, she takes a risk and sneaks back to Elfhame to pretend to be her twin sister and stand before the court. Quickly, she realizes a war is brewing and she has no choice but to stay and help.
It only took three books, but we finally got ourselves a compelling storyline that I could get behind. I believe I read this in just under 24 hours. Would I say that this book made the first two worth reading? No. No I would not. But it was better than the other ones.

THE BLONDE WHO CAME IN FROM THE COLD
BY ALLY CARTER

Alex wakes up in a dark room handcuffed to her enemy. They can’t remember the last two days.
Yes. YES!!! This book was more than I hoped it would be and everything I wanted, but didn’t get, from The Blonde Identity (the first book in the series). I absolutely loved Alex and King. Their love story was truly epic. I could turn around and read this again right now.

THE MOST WONDERFUL CRIME OF THE YEAR
BY ALLY CARTER

Margaret Chase and Ethan Wyatt, mystery authors and sworn enemies, get a mysterious invitation to spend Christmas with “their biggest fan.” When they arrive at their destination, Eleanor Ashely’s house (the greatest mystery writer of all time), things start looking up. But then Eleanor disappears. From a locked room. In the middle of the night.
I didn’t go into this one with the highest expectations, and I was wrong. Very wrong. This book was so good. I love a good enemies to lovers AND he falls first story. There’s not a lot of ways that could go wrong for me.

THE GAME CAN'T LOVE YOU BACK
BY KAROLE COZZO

When an accidental fire burns down one of the two high schools in town over winter break, there’s no other option but to merge the two schools together while repairs are made. Unfortunately for Eve, that means the sports teams are getting merged together too. As the only girl on the baseball team, Eve has to earn the respect of her new team members while also fighting for dominance against the other star pitcher in town, Jamie.
This book kind of let me down. It was good, but I was disappointed by all of the language and unnecessary spicy discussions. However, I did enjoy Eve and Jamie’s banter/competitions and the little moments where they set the game aside and played on the same team for once.

AUTUMN AT THE CAT CAFE
BY KATHLEEN FULLER

After a particularly painful breakup, Via focused on her cat cafe in the small town of Pecan Corner. She became great friends with Earl, the crotchety old man in the book shop next door. When he passed away, Via hoped to buy his half of the building and keep his book store open. She never expected Earl's long-lost nephew to show up to claim his inheritance.
This story was very light and cozy with ALL the fall vibes. I loved the adorable town the book was set in, and Via and Leo’s romance was cute. I loved how fun their enemies to lovers situation was.

RUBY RED
BY KERSTIN GIER

Gwyneth has an abnormal family. Her grandmother goes solely by Lady Arista, her great-aunt Maddy ‘has visions,’ her aunt and cousin treat her like a red-headed step-child (although she’s actually the only member of the family without red hair), and… they all live together. Oh, one last thing I forgot—they believe certain members of the family have a ‘time travel gene.’
I’m pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this story as an adult. I couldn’t put it down. I needed to know everything about the time machine, the secret society, and the point of their ‘mission.’

SAPPHIRE BLUE
BY KERSTIN GIER

Gwyneth and Gideon travel back to the present after their run in with Paul and Lucy in 1912. Gwen continues to try and figure out the secrets of time travel, the chronograph, and ‘completing the circle.’ Gideon tries to figure out if Gwen will betray him/the Guardians in the future.
That cliffhanger at the end of the first book really got me, and I was completely invested in this book right from the start. It’s fun reading from Gwen’s perspective a few days after learning she can travel through time and being as confused and frustrated as she is (in a good way).

EMERALD GREEN
BY KERSTIN GIER

Emerald Green picks up right where Sapphire Blue ended, with Gwen and Gideon fighting after returning from their meeting with Count Saint-Germain. Gwen tries to move forward with the help of her family in figuring out the secrets of the Guardians and Count Saint-Germain’s ‘evil plan.’ Gideon tries to protect Gwen while doing some research of his own.
Wow! Yes. I loved it. I loved the drama. I loved the secrets. Everything was so fast paced, with high stakes, and I couldn’t put this book down. I highly recommend the whole trilogy.

This book had me hooked from the start. It was funny and fast paced, and I loved how the majority of the book was set on the Appalachian Trail. The outdoorsy adventure mixed with the reality tv show was the perfect combination.

HOW JENNA BECAME MY DILEMMA
BY KORTNEY KEISEL

When Jenna Lewis books her first major acting role in a new romance series, she is less than thrilled that she will be starring alongside play-boy Cody Banner. When the ratings for the new show aren’t what they hoped they would be, Jenna and Cody’s publicists devise a plan for them to start a fake relationship to grow public interest in the show. What could possibly go wrong?
I enjoyed this story while I was reading the book. I laughed and smiled at the lines throughout. I have no regrets, I just don’t think it will leave any lasting impressions other than I can’t recommend it to my mom.

It’s not hard when she can’t stand the office heartthrob, Nate. He is her nemesis. The two are put in charge of planning a trip for a large company and must find a way to work together without killing each other.
This was a cute enemies to lovers, fake dating, workplace romance. I thought it was fairly fast paced and I enjoyed my time reading it. The You’ve Got Mail vibes were super fun.

LETTERS TO THE LOST
BY BRIGID KEMMERER

After Juliet’s mom dies, her entire world falls apart. She can’t seem to cope with her grief and the only thing that makes it better is writing letters to her mom. She didn’t think that anyone else would ever see them, but then Declan finds one and decides to write back.
I can’t even tell you how much I love this book. It very well may be my favorite book of all time. I’ve read and reread it a thousand times, and I’m gonna keep reading it because it only gets better each time I do.

A CURSE SO DARK AND LONELY
BY BRIGID KEMMERER

Harper’s just your average teenage girl. Except her mother’s dying, her father abandoned them, and her brother is trying his best to repay the shady loans their father left behind. Then an act of kindness and bravery gets her accidentally thrown into an alternate world with a cursed prince she’s supposed to fall in love with and a kingdom she’s supposed to help save.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was a fun twist on Beauty and the Beast, and I just love Rhen. I’m a sucker for a man who’s made mistakes but is doing everything in his power to try to make up for it. And I liked Harper, but I also had my moments where I was screaming at her, “WHAT ARE YOU DOING?” She changed so much from the beginning of the book to the end, which I loved.

Sadie Wen is the perfect student with perfect grades. She’s a people pleaser who maintains her image by venting all of her anger into email drafts never meant to be sent out. In these emails, she lets everybody know what she actually thinks of them: her teachers, her peers, and her arch nemesis—Julius Gong. When those emails accidentally get sent out, Sadie has to figure out how to put her life back together.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was short and sweet and funny. And who doesn’t love a good enemies to lovers story? The banter and competition between Sadie and Julius were perfect. And there was never a dull moment.

Phoenix Park and Holland Blakey have never gotten along. For years, they’ve argued and insulted each other. Both in desperate situations, they agree to a marriage contract. Purely a business arrangement. There will be no feelings. It’s only for a few months anyway.
I really enjoyed reading Beauty and the Beach. I cruised through this book in one day… I loved the enemies to lovers and marriage of convenience combination. I couldn’t get enough of Phoenix and Holland together.

HOW TO KISS YOUR ENEMY
BY GRACIE RUTH MITCHELL

Lennox Hawthorne has poured his heart and soul into opening his own restaurant on his family farm’s property in a small town in North Carolina. He is incredibly annoyed to find out that his sister, who runs the farm and event center, has hired his rival from culinary school as their new catering chef. As the two come together their old rivalry seems to pick up right where it left off, but there’s something else there too…
What is it about Jenny Proctor’s books that just suck me in? This one was no different. I had such a fun time reading it. I cruised through it in a couple of days.

THE MATCHBREAKER SUMMER
BY ANNIE RAINS

Paisley is upset that her mom has decided to sell their family summer camp to move them closer to her new boyfriend's family. Hayden has always been a trouble maker and finds himself spending the summer at this camp. Hayden decides to help Paisley break up her mom and boyfriend so she doesn’t have to move and the camp doesn’t close. What could possibly go wrong?
I loved the little shenanigans that Paisley and Hayden were up to trying to break up Paisley's mom and her boyfriend. It reminded me of the Cheaper By the Dozen movie where the kids are trying to run off the oldest sister’s boyfriend. I found it to be quite comical! Overall, I would highly recommend this book to all lovers of clean young adult romances!

WE ARE NEVER GETTING TOGETHER
BY JANETTE RALLISON

Madeline and Cooper are the worst of enemies. After playing multiple pranks on each other, the principal calls their parents in for a meeting. Sparks fly between Madeline’s dad and Cooper’s mom. The last thing they want is to have to spend time with each other because of their parents. Desperate times call for desperate measures. Madeline and Cooper agree to fake date each other in order to keep their parents apart.
We Are Never Getting Together was a fun, lighthearted, entertaining story. This is the first book I’ve read by Janette Rallison, and can I just tell you, I need more! We need more books like this in our lives. I couldn’t put it down! I highly recommend it!

BY REBECCA ROSS

After Iris Winnow’s brother decides to join the war, she’s forced to drop out of her last year of high school to get a job at the local paper. Iris starts writing letters to her brother, only they never reach him. Roman Kitt, Iris’s rival at the paper, ends up with them… and then he starts writing back.
I had high expectations for this book, but it was even better than I hoped it would be. I immediately got caught up in the world and became attached to Iris and Roman. I love anonymous letter writing situations, and I love enemies to lovers. So, this really was the best of both worlds.

THAT FINE LINE
BY CINDY STEEL

After graduating from college and getting engaged, Kelsey heads back home for the summer. She’ll be helping her dad on the ranch, spending time with her best friend, and planning her wedding with her mom. She doesn’t have time for a prank war with her high school nemesis! Why couldn’t her dad have hired anyone else?
I had the best time reading That Fine Line. I loved the banter between all the characters, not just Kelsey and Cade. They were hilarious, so I’m excited to read more about this group of people in the other books in this series.

PLANES, REINS, AND AUTOMOBILES
BY KATE WATSON

Oliver and Poppy are both flying to Rochester for family events. Their first impressions of each other are less than stellar, but when their connecting flight is canceled due to weather, the two end up sharing a rental car to make the drive.
There were some tough topics throughout the book that influenced our main characters, and I thought the author handled them really well. It was a cute rom-com, but there was a lot of emotion to this story as well. I would highly recommend this book!

P.S. I LIKE YOU
BY KASIE WEST

While sitting in one of her classes, Lily scribbles out a line of lyrics from her favorite obscure band on the desk. When she comes back the next day, she sees somebody else has written in the next line. Things quickly progress from filling in lyrics to anonymously writing full letters and sharing secrets.
What a wonderful anonymous letter writing situation. It’s one of my favorite tropes, and I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I loved the funny banter between Lily and her pen pal. And when he drew her a bowl of chicken noodle soup because he thought she was sick, it warmed my heart.
