Emerald Green picks up right where Sapphire Blue ended, with Gwen and Gideon fighting after returning from their meeting with Count Saint-Germain. Gwen tries to move forward with the help of her family in figuring out the secrets of the Guardians and Count Saint-Germain’s ‘evil plan.’ Gideon tries to protect Gwen while doing some research of his own.

Wow! Yes. I loved it. I loved the drama. I loved the secrets. Everything was so fast paced, with high stakes, and I couldn’t put this book down. I enjoyed following along with Gwen and Gideon’s journey in this trilogy, but I really appreciated how the other characters became more involved in this book. From Gwen’s family to Leslie and Raphael, even Mr. Bernard (yes, I’m quite fond of him)—their involvement took things to another level and made the entire situation more real. I also loved Xemerius. He was the comedic relief (along with being a good friend) that nobody knew we needed.

I enjoyed how things got wrapped up with the time travel/chronograph/circle of twelve situation. Even though it was drawn out through three books, I’m not mad that it took forever to figure everything out. It was written well, and I was invested the entire time. That being said, I do have some questions that went unanswered. Obviously, I have very reasonable assumptions of answers, but I would have loved it more if there was some more clarification on the few things I felt were left open ended.

I also thought the ending, as a whole, was quite abrupt. The mystery was solved, and then we got a scene with Gwen… and no Gideon. Where was he? I wanted another declaration of love from both of them. I’m being really nit-picky, but after spending so much time of their ‘relationship’ solving the problem, I wanted a relaxing, slow moment with them where they could be happy.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book and would highly recommend the trilogy to all.
