HOW JENNA BECAME MY DILEMMA

When Jenna Lewis books her first major acting role in a new romance series, she is less than thrilled that she will be starring alongside play-boy Cody Banner. When the ratings for the new show aren’t what they hoped they would be, Jenna and Cody’s publicists devise a plan for them to start a fake relationship to grow public interest in the show. What could possibly go wrong?
I am not gonna lie, this book was okay… I felt like both Cody and Jenna were very superficial and self absorbed which made it hard for me to care about them and their relationship. As the book went on I did get into it a little bit more, but also every other thought/comment from each of them to each other was about either their bodies or the other person’s body. The only non physical attribute that Jenna had was that she was good at math, which I’m not sure if that was supposed to make her more down to earth/human or not, but let me tell you, it didn’t do it for me.
Don’t get me wrong, this is still a cute romance and I am not mad that I spent time reading it. I guess I am just used to famous characters in books being misunderstood or wanting to be treated normal. In this book they are both famous, they know it, and they want to flaunt it.

The main thought I have after finishing this book is that I can’t recommend it to my mom… it would definitely not get her stamp of approval. And it’s because there is so much talk about body parts. Not necessarily in a dirty way, but very often. In the beginning of the book there were two pages of writing talking about butts. The male lead is the hottest actor in Hollywood and the female lead is a famous supermodel known for modeling skimpy clothes and underwear. So, their smoking hot bodies are mentioned constantly throughout the book. I kinda get it, their looks would be a part of their story, but it also felt like too much. We get it. They’re hot. Here’s one example I found odd: Cody is driving Jenna to a party and she’s wearing a really short skirt. He’s appreciating the view of her legs as he’s driving and then when he gets out of the Jeep and goes around to open her door, he intentionally positions himself to cover her up so the paparazzi can’t get a photo of her underwear as she’s getting out of the Jeep because her skirt is so short… he realizes she’s been photographed in her underwear before, but he doesn’t want the paparazzi to get any unintentional underwear shots… This is very chivalrous of Cody, but why?!? It felt weird to me. There was so much emphasis on their bodies that the rest of the story just faded from my mind after I finished the book. I would still say it was a clean read, but I know my mom wouldn’t like it for the reasons I’ve described.
I did enjoy the story while I was reading the book. I laughed and smiled at the lines throughout. I have no regrets, I just don’t think it will leave any lasting impressions other than I can’t recommend it to my mom. I learned that The Promised Prince (the tv show they are filming) is actually a series by the author so I’m interested in reading that. I did enjoy the aspect of them actually filming the show throughout the story. Often we read about characters who are actors/actresses but it seems like they’re usually talking a break from work so we don’t see them working and I thought it was interesting to read about how they film. I wonder if that’s how it really is in Hollywood.

There is a male/female relationship with kissing, make out scene described. No intimate details are described but I’m giving it a 3 because of all the body talk.
