After Jude has been exiled by the “Wicked King”, she takes a risk and sneaks back to Elfhame to pretend to be her twin sister and stand before the court. Quickly, she realizes a war is brewing and she has no choice but to stay and help.

It only took three books but we finally got ourselves a compelling storyline that I could get behind. I believe I read this book in just under 24 hours. Would I say that this book made the first two worth reading? No. No I would not. I would say go ahead and skip this series, but if you have unfortunately found yourself stuck reading this series as I did, just know this book is actually fairly entertaining.

The whole premise of this entire series is that Jude wants to fit in. Three books later and I still don’t understand why she didn’t leave Elfhame the first chance she got. She was a human living in a world that doesn’t like humans… and she knew that! No matter what she did, the people of Elfhame, or whatever you wanna call them, would never understand/accept her. I have said it before and I will say it again, I just do not understand! I have accepted the fact that I will probably never understand why people love this series so much. To each their own.
