THRONE OF GLASS SERIES
OVERALL REVIEW

I have spent the last 9 months reading the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas and I absolutely loved it. The storytelling was phenomenal. The fantasy world was easy to fall into–I don’t enjoy complicated magic systems–and I thought this one was great. It made sense. It was well thought out. I was very impressed with Sarah J. Maas's writing. The connections that we saw throughout the series, especially at the end, were mind blowing! I loved the characters and their journeys throughout the story. This series was intense. It was emotional. It was, in a way, inspiring. I loved it! I can't wait to read it again.

Just for fun, here are some stats.
This series is 8 books total (including the prequel)
4,793 total pages (range from 404-980)
Published 2012-2018
READING ORDER
There are a couple different options when it comes to the reading order. You can go with the chronological order and read the prequel (The Assassin’s Blade) first.

Or you could go with the author’s recommended order and read the prequel 3rd. This is the order I read them in, and I enjoyed it.

You also have the option to read Empire of Storms and Tower of Dawn simultaneously. I forgot that was a thing when I was reading those books, but I’m very interested in reading the two books together next time I read the series.

OVERALL CONTENT RATINGS
As far as the cleanliness goes, here are my thoughts and overall series content ratings:
Language-3
Not a lot, but not a little swearing. No F words. Some books have more swear words than others.
Violence/Gore-4
Lots of fighting, lots of blood, killing, torture–sometimes descriptive.
Spice-5
The romance was closed door until book #5. After that, there were a few spicy scenes in each book. They ranged from mildly to moderately descriptive and were short and easy to gloss over. The spice level was my main concern when it came to Maas’s writing. From what I have heard about A Court of Thorns and Roses and The Crescent City series, I don’t plan on reading them. I’ve been told that they are quite spicy.
Average Content Ratings based from 8 individual book reviews:
Language - 3
Violence/Gore - 4.125
Spice - 3.625
