Joseph (Mohammed Hadadi) is on the run from the authorities and ends up in the Barrancas del Cobre canyons with the Tarahumara Indians. Joseph came to the canyons with the intention of running in an exclusive ultra-marathon race, not: rescuing an Indian woman and her son, fighting a drug cartel, falling in love, and finding redemption.

I was wondering if we were going to get a book about Joseph, and I’m happy that we did. Yes, he made a lot of mistakes in the past, but he knew he was wrong and needed to change. I loved how the whole gang from the first book (Matt, Hope, Permelia, Roger, and Joseph) got back together. I only wish Roger was a little bit more involved. I also thought some of the LDS elements in this book where a little unrealistic and kind of weird. If the girls called each other Sisters one more time, I might have lost my mind. And you know how they say that “faith without works is dead”? There was a little bit of work that could have, and maybe should have, been done. But maybe that’s just me. And where was Ron? I’m still waiting for his book.

*While this technically isn’t part of a series, I would highly recommend reading Undercover Saint and Undercover Target before reading this book.
