After putting her faith in the Prince of Hearts, and being betrayed repeatedly, Evangeline is determined to take matters into her own hands and find her happily ever after on her own. When a new curse is threatening her life, she realizes that Jacks may be the only one who can help.

The Ballad of Never After was a great story! I absolutely loved it! The adventure was high stakes and fast paced. The obstacles the characters faced were equal parts exciting and shocking. There was a sense of mystery to their quest so I was continually trying to solve the puzzle. The curses were a captivating part of the story and I loved how they tied back to Once Upon a Broken Heart and Evangeline’s fascination with The Ballad of the Archer and the Fox, her favorite childhood tale.

The tension between Evangeline and Jacks was a thing of perfection. I loved the little bits of info we learned about Jacks’ past. I can’t help but love him as a villain of the story. In the beginning of the book, Evangeline writes a letter to herself to remind her why she should never, ever, trust Jacks again. I see why she needed to read that repeatedly. I kept focusing on Jacks’ less villainous qualities and wanted him to be the good guy! Jacks deserves a happy ending!

The Ballad of Never After was a wild ride. The plot twists caught me off guard. I loved the adventure. The magic was fun and the discoveries about the past were intriguing. I still have several questions. Between that and the major cliffhanger we were left on, I’ll be reading the next book ASAP!
