Kaz Brekker, criminal mastermind and prominent gang leader in the city of Ketterdam, is hired to do the impossible. He gathers a specialized crew and they con their way into enemy territory in an effort to bring back one very important individual. Although this heist could make the group rich beyond their wildest dreams, failure could mean the end of everything they know.

There has been so much hype surrounding this book. It seems like everyone has read it and absolutely loved it. I’ll have to admit that I finished it feeling a little disappointed. Overall the story was fine. It’s just that I was expecting so much more! I was expecting to find my new favorite book. I was expecting to not be able to put it down. I had a decent time reading it. I enjoyed the characters, especially Kaz and his ‘scheming face.’ There were many intense moments and it was fun to see the fluidity of the plans they came up with and how things worked out. The ending was a major cliff-hanger! I will be reading the sequel ASAP.

I would recommend reading the Shadow and Bone Trilogy before reading Six of Crows. I feel like I would have been very lost reading Six of Crows without having the background info from the initial trilogy.
