Running on Love and Donuts #2
REBEL WITH A BOYFRIEND

Summer is over, Emma and Tyler are starting their senior year of high school. Emma is worried that Tyler won’t be interested in the regular Emma. Tyler has a big secret he wants to keep for as long as possible so he doesn’t scare Emma away.
Rebel With A Boyfriend starts a few weeks after Rebel With A Donut ends. The overall storyline of the book was cute. I loved how the characters from the first book were integrated throughout the story even though they all weren’t together in Florida anymore. I quite enjoyed the text conversations, especially when the Grandma’s chimed in and misunderstood what text abbreviations actually stood for. Quality entertainment.
I was a bit annoyed at how long the book drags out Tyler's secret. Not only was it a secret from Emma but it was a secret from the reader. We were getting references to it left and right, but we didn’t know what they were referencing. I will admit I was impatient enough to skip to the end and see what the big secret was. I also didn’t appreciate how they would talk about social media posts and say things like “Emma don’t look at that” or “You don’t need to see this” but it would also keep the reader in the dark. What were the posts? How bad were they? How do we know, as the reader, if Tyler should be forgiven if we don’t know what he did?
All that being said, I did quite enjoy the book. It’s not my new favorite but it was a good follow up to Rebel With A Donut and I could see myself re-reading both these books in the future for a cute/funny romance. The banter between the Grandmas and the kids never gets old! I am excited to read the next book in the series, Rebel On A Break.
