Tara is a chef who runs her own catering company. She’s recently hired a new chef, Alex. He drives her crazy! He’s grumpy and only refers to her as ‘boss,’ instead of the traditional ‘chef’ used in the culinary world. But he’s good… he’s oh so good at what he does. And Tara can’t help but notice how good he looks doing it.

Here we have the 2nd book in the Southern Roots Sweet RomCom series. You know I always enjoy a cute romance. This book was fun and enjoyable but I do have a few minor complaints. Mostly about our main female lead, Tara. She was more clumsy than is humanly possible and her mood swings had me feeling like a yo-yo, just like the main male lead, Alex, said in the book. No joke. He says, “I take her hand and kiss the back of it, feeling a little yo-yo’ed for how up, down, and around our conversations are.” She drove me crazy. I mentioned the random chapter from Tara’s point of view in my review for the first book, Just His Secretary, and when this book randomly had a chapter from another character’s point of view I was instantly annoyed. The rest of the book was between Tara and Alex’s point of view. So, it’s official, I don’t like this method, or strategy, or whatever you want to call it. It’s not necessary to make someone interested in reading the next book in the series. We get to know the character enough to be interested in reading their story without it. At least this time, it was a chapter that had nothing to do with Tara and Alex so we weren’t continuing their story from someone else’s point of view. These are minor complaints, but other than that I don’t have any lasting impressions to mention. Although I may never read this book again, I still enjoyed it. It was perfect for snuggling up in a warm blanket and relaxing for a bit. I would recommend it as a cute, clean romance.
