Kari Evan’s just broke up with her boyfriend and wants to get away for the summer. Kari moves in with her older brother Ben, and quickly finds herself falling for his teammate, Ryan.

This book is adorable! I love that we get to read more about Kari, since we got to meet her in Ben’s book, Chances Are. I highly recommend reading Ben’s book first, but it isn’t mandatory to follow this story.

In the book, Ryan’s mom gets into a car accident and has medical issues resulting from the accident. I love how much Ryan cared about his mom and wanted to take care of her. I also loved that his mom gave Kari a hard time. She was being protective of her son, since all of his past girlfriends were only interested in him for his fame/money.

I do have to say that I think Kari overreacted during the first third act break up. Just because Ryan’s ex-girlfriend was sitting in Kari’s seat at the game didn’t mean Ryan had dumped Kari and forgot to fill her in on the fact that they weren’t dating anymore… I feel like she should have thought things through a little more before she overreacted. Plus we have the second third act break up, so I argue, was the first really necessary?

I liked how Traci Hunter Abramson kept the medical aspect from the first book alive in this book as well. It wasn’t just a cut and dry romance that happens to take place in the same “world” as the first book, it had the “disease” thing going for it. In the first book it’s Maya’s cancer and in this one it’s Ryan’s mom. Just a thought I had and felt like sharing.

Overall, I love this book! I love this series. This series is a little different from what Traci Hunter Abramson usually writes, but I am here for it. Highly recommend!
