Maya Gupta has cancer and needs a place to stay so she can be in the clinical trial that will hopefully save her life. When her best friend, Kari, offers up her brother’s supposedly vacant apartment, Maya can’t refuse.

This book was beautiful! It was both tragic and amazing. I feel so bad for Maya having to go through everything basically alone. Who can blame Ben for originally kicking her out of his apartment when he first learned she was living there. But in his defense he had no idea what she was going through, and then his change of heart is just so beautiful.

In my personal opinion, Ben is what all men should aspire to be in life. He is so selfless and down right amazing. Also, did I mention that he is a professional baseball player? Because he is, and does the fact that baseball is my favorite sport sway my opinion? I don’t think so…

I am not one that usually roots for a quick marriage, but in this case it was to help out Maya and then the real love story came after. I can get behind that scenario. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a more serious story where life isn’t always butterflies and rainbows.
