Citra has been a Scythe for about a year now and Rowan has been off grid taking out corrupt scythes one by one under the guise of being “Scythe Lucifer.” Since the Thunderhead isn’t allowed to interfere in Scythe business, it has to get creative to aid Citra when her life is threatened. Rowan also attempts to come to her aid but gets caught up in trouble of his own along the way.

I loved every second of this book! I do think that this book was mostly set up for the third and final book, but I am here for it. In this book we were introduced to more characters and I am quite fond of Greyson, or Slayd, whichever name you prefer. I really hope he continues to be pivotal in the next book. The first book takes place in a very small portion of this world and this one opens it up to many new places including “Texas” which is basically “off the grid.” Then there is the island where the Grandslayer Scythes live/rule. We also get to learn a bit more about the “Tonists” which I think are gonna play a huge part in the third book; I will just have to wait and see. I flew through this book and can’t wait to start the third!
