When movie star Graham Larkin accidentally emails the wrong E. O’Neill about taking care of his pet pig, a conversation strikes up between Graham and Ellie. Only Ellie doesn’t know Graham is a movie star. She assumes he’s a regular seventeen-year-old like her. Then a movie set shows up in Ellie’s small town and Graham decides to surprise her.
I’ve read this book many times, and I like it. It’s a sweet, fluffy romance, but it doesn’t get better every time I read it like my favorite books do. You know I love an anonymous letter writing situation, and this one’s good, but it’s not one of my favorites. I liked Ellie and Graham and their emails, but I don’t know that they ever had a serious in-person conversation. That being said, we were told they had serious email conversations, but never got to read them ourselves either. Part of the draw of the letter writing romance (at least to me) is that the characters form a deep emotional connection, and if I don’t even get a glimpse of that while I’m reading, I have a really hard time believing it.
I also had a problem with the main conflict in this book. I’m gonna tell you because I really don’t think it’s that much of a spoiler. Ellie is the illegitimate child of a politician potentially running for president in the near future. The point is that Ellie can’t be photographed and put in the news or else all of this drama will be drug up again. Yeah, the secrets already out, so what’s the big deal? It would be okay to be on the cover of magazines with a movie star but not if it messes up the life of the dad who doesn’t want you? I’m being harsh, I know. Anyways, it was a good book and I’m not mad that I read it.
