Opera singer, Christine Daae reconnects with an old friend, Viscount Raoul de Chagny. But something, or someone, comes between their relationship.

This book was really good. I loved the story and the mystery. I loved the way it was written, like an investigation with the author putting the pieces together from multiple perspectives and overlapping timelines. I loved the setting of the dark, haunted, and architecturally strange Paris Opera House. It was all great. Would I have loved it more if Christine Daae actually fell in love with the Opera Ghost? Probably, but… we all can’t get what we want.

No surprise to anyone, I grew quite fond of the Ghost. I also liked the Opera managers, Moncharmin and Richard, and the box keeper, Madame Giry. That whole drama was hilarious. I know this is a Gothic Horror story, but… I laughed a lot. And I liked that. I was amused, and intrigued, and very satisfied with the whole book, including the ending.

I also loved digging into some of the real history of the Paris Opera House after finishing the book. It was fascinating to learn about some of the real events that inspired this story. Amazing! I highly recommend.
