In the kingdom of Fantome, there are Cloaks and there are Daggers–thieves and assassins. The two rival groups wield the dangerous Shadow magic. When Seraphine’s mother is murdered by a Dagger, she runs, seeking safety at the house of the Cloaks. Along with being hunted by a Dagger, Seraphine must figure out what her mother had been doing with the magic she smuggled and what strange things are happening in the kingdom.

I was really enjoying the storyline of The Dagger and the Flame. I liked the magic system, I thought it was really interesting. I was curious about the plot and where the story would go. I loved the enemies to lovers theme with the banter between Seraphine and Ransom. The many F words were bothering me as I read, but the final straw for me was a spicy scene.
