Haven’s life seems to be changing too fast. Between her Dad getting remarried, her sister getting married, and her mom changing right before her eyes, Haven has to discover who she wants to be in her “new” world.

I usually really love a Sarah Dessen book… this one was okay… After some light research, I am pretty sure this is the first book Sarah Dessen wrote. So, I would say it’s actually pretty good for a first novel.

I think I had a hard time with this book because the main character, Haven, is only fifteen years old. To me that age is kinda hard to relate to these days, especially because this is the first time I have read this one. When I am re-reading a book about younger teens, it’s easier to relate because I can remember how I felt reading it the first time around if that makes sense.

This story also lacked the overarching “love” storyline that is usually present in Sarah Dessen’s books. I missed having that to root for. Without that aspect in the story it almost made it feel even younger than fifteen.

Overall the storyline was interesting enough, but *spoiler alert* I was a bit concerned that Haven was falling for Sumner (her older sister’s ex boyfriend who is 21, I believe). Good news, she was not. But it had me worried for a minute.

If you enjoy Sarah Dessen stories, I would recommend giving this one a go. But, if you are an adult, you may not get into it as much as a teen would.
