The Hunger Games #0.5

SUNRISE ON THE REAPING

It’s the 50th year of the Hunger Games, the second Quarter Quell, and this means there will be twice as many tributes in the games. Two girls and two boys from each district will be chosen at the reaping. Haymitch Abernathy finds himself among the tributes from District 12. His mom leaves him with a wise piece of advice and he does everything he can to follow it as he is thrown into the Capitol and the arena.

I have been looking forward to this book coming out since I heard it was going to be a thing. My expectations were high and I’m happy to say that Sunrise on the Reaping did not disappoint! I loved it! Based on what I knew about Haymitch’s past from The Hunger Games Trilogy, I had a little bit of an idea of what was going to happen (especially about his time in the arena since Katniss and Peeta watch Haymitch’s Hunger Games video in Catching Fire) but I never expected the way this book went. We were connected to the people and events in The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, and the ending wrapped things up so well connecting to The Hunger Games Trilogy. The author did an amazing job making it all fit together. I can’t stop thinking about it. Highly recommend!

P.S. Any feelings I had about President Snow, you can go ahead and times them by about 10. He’s at the top of my crap list right now…
