Jimi and her best friend Del have their lives all planned out. Until Del decides it’s a good idea to become a chimera, a person spliced with animal genes, right when legislation declaring chimera as nonpersons is on the brink of being passed. When Del goes missing, Jimi has to race against time to save him with the help of some new friends.

I randomly picked this book up off of the library shelf, and it was a winner! I really didn’t anticipate liking it as much as I did. It was fast paced and action packed right from the start. It didn’t take much for me to become attached to Jimi and appreciate everything she was doing and sacrificing for her best friend. At first, I was a little skeptical of Rex, Ryan, Pell, Ruth, and Sly, but they turned out to be really great friends to Jimi. Especially Rex. The only real issue I had with this book was that it was very political. I’m not super into discussing and arguing over politics (real or fictional), but I do see how it’s important for the plot of the book. However, I probably could have done with a little bit less. I did love all of the crazy situations that happened throughout the book though, including the end. It was insane and unexpected and I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.
