SPIES, LIES, AND ALIBIS
NATALIE WALTERS

5 Stars
The last thing Cybil Langford expected was to come across her childhood friend/crush in the middle of a secret operation. He introduces himself with an alias, confusing her even more. She’s determined to figure out what part he plays in the corruption she’s trying to uncover.
I had so much fun reading Spies, Lies, and Alibis! I was entertained from the very first paragraph. There were a lot of pop culture references that made it really fun. There were descriptions like ‘fills a suit like a Hemsworth,’ or references to a ‘Vin Diesel look-a-like.’ I was hooked by the amusing writing style at first, but it didn’t take long for me to be captivated by the suspense and the mission of our main characters.
Although I am nowhere close to being a spy myself, I felt like Cybil and Ben were likable and relatable characters. Sure, they seemed unstoppable with their James Bond Superspy qualities, but their inner monologues, and interactions with each other, let us feel like they were just regular people too. Their banter was hilarious and I loved their history. Their past experiences together were woven into the story very well.
I enjoyed Cybil’s sense of humor. And her chocolate addiction. Her wit and sarcasm were perfectly written. Another favorite character was Ben’s Gran. I could not get enough of her. Imagine an elderly woman, living in a retirement home, and a member of a club called ‘Pistols and Pearls.’ Trust me, you’ll love her too! If you enjoy a suspense filled rom-com, I highly recommend Spies, Lies, and Alibis. I’m going to need to read more from Natalie Walters.
