Smoke and Ash is my favorite book in this series. It was so much fun to read! I loved our main characters, Carli and Cody. They were both down to earth, hardworking people and I loved that they took a chance on each other. All the sneaking around was adorable–they felt like they needed to keep it a secret until they were sure of their feelings because of their families. I actually thought it was amusing to read about 26+ year olds sneaking around to see each other. I really enjoyed reading about the two of them juggling their other jobs with their responsibilities on their respective ranches. The side characters were fun as well. After reading the first two books in the series, it feels like I’m getting to know the whole town. This book is the whole package–ranch life, long time crush, horse rides to secret rendezvous with your off-limits love… how can you not love this book?!? I couldn’t read it fast enough. I highly recommend Smoke and Ash, as well as the other books in The Firemen of Waterford TN series.
