The guardians need a new financial expert to help them run the program, so they’ve compiled a short list. A short list of one name: Kristi Hartinger. The only problem is, she’s Ace’s ex-girlfriend from twenty years ago. The woman he was planning on marrying. Before he died. And became a ghost.

This is a fast paced second chance romance with lots of suspense and mystery. I liked the different perspective of trying to form a relationship when one person doesn’t exist to the outside world. It was also good to see those problems talked about and addressed. I couldn’t help but feel that Ace and Kristi were meant to be.

I loved the setting of the book. I was intrigued by all of the aspects of living on a private island in Maine. And the drama of the locals trying to steal Kristi’s land was great. This book—the suspense and mystery—was just one crazy turn after another. I loved it! I kept thinking that the action was going to start settling down multiple times, but things just kept coming up. It was great.

I also loved how Kade and Renae (from Safe House) played a role in the story—you know they’re my favorite. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would recommend it to all. This could be read as a standalone, but having the backstory of the previous two books makes this one better.
