Catherine is twelve years old and wants to have a normal life. But with a brother like David, life will never be "normal." Catherine makes rules for David to follow in an attempt to be less embarrassed by him.

This is a classic book of my childhood. Now that I have made that statement you will all probably be surprised to hear that I had zero recollection of the book's storyline. I just remember that I loved this book.

I had completely forgotten that David has autism, Catherine befriends Jason, a boy in a wheelchair who can’t speak, and Catherine has a desire to have a “normal” brother. So what did I think this book was? That’s a good question that I don’t have the answer to. But I can tell you now, after reading it, it’s still great and no wonder I loved it as a kid.

I feel like it isn’t very often that you get a children's book that tackles the storylines like these. I feel like Cynthia Lord did a great job at telling this story. I would recommend this book to any tween out there.
