This book was crazy! One shocking twist after another. I never anticipated any of it. I thought this book was highly entertaining. Dark, disturbing, and diabolical? Yes. But so good! The little snippets of info we’d get here and there lined up so well in the end. It was a masterpiece. A wild ride. And I loved it. I couldn’t believe the things that were happening! I’ll never be able to look at my seemingly normal neighbors again. Funny story, I was actually reading this book while I went on a trip with my family and there was an employee at the hotel who remembered my name. This is excellent customer service, I agree.  Every time we’d come and go from the hotel, he’d call me by name. No one else I was with, just me. And it totally freaked me out because I was deep into this story! I’m sure he was just doing his job and being friendly, but it took me some time to simmer down and acknowledge that it wasn’t very likely that something nefarious was going on.

Towards the end of the book, I realized that our main character doesn’t use any contractions. At least I don’t think he did… and I thought that was a nice touch. It made him sound like he was a little off. According to Google, it’s a myth that psychopaths don’t use contractions but I thought it helped convey his deranged character. I actually spent some time listening to the audiobook and I thought the narrator did an amazing job portraying this man. My Lovely Wife was full of suspense, secrets, and thrills. I can’t wait to see what other kind of stories Samantha Downing has dreamed up!
