After life takes a very unexpected and tragic turn, Jackie moves to Colorado to live with one of her mom’s good friends from the past. On her way there, Jackie learns that Katherine Walter has 12 kids!  Jackie needs to adapt to her new situation and figure out how to survive life with the Walter boys, all while working through her own grief.

This is the second time I’ve read My Life with the Walter Boys and I’m sad to say that I didn’t feel the same as I did before. The first time I read this book, I absolutely loved it. 5 stars. I was obsessed. My sisters were probably tired of hearing me talk about it. I was simultaneously watching the Netflix series while reading the book, and looking back on it, I think the show heavily influenced how I felt about the book. This time around, I found myself giving my book weird looks as I read what the characters were thinking and doing... Suddenly, I had several concerns. Like, why was Cole such a jerk the whole time? Why exactly are we supposed to like him? He’s just mean. Why was Jackie thinking it would be a good idea to date Alex? Where were the parents in all of this? There were a few scenes where they were trying to wrangle all the boys and discipline them but did they have no concerns when it came to bringing a teenage girl into their home full of teenage boys? When I learned that Ali Novak wrote this book when she was 15 I thought that kind of made sense… Overall, I'm disappointed that I didn't like this book as much as I thought I did. I really enjoyed the Netflix series though!  I’m still planning on reading the sequel. I’ll probably wait until the second season of the show comes out.
