Hope is desperate for a change in her life. She quits her job as a dental hygienist and escapes to a small mountain town where she plans to dedicate some time to finishing her novel and standing on her own two feet for the first time in her life. Imagine her surprise when she realizes her attractive neighbor is a dentist–the exact thing she was trying to get away from.

I absolutely loved Love and Lidocaine! This story had me hooked from the very first page. I loved all of the characters. Hope was down to earth, with dreams of being a writer. I couldn’t help but root for her as she left her job and controlling parents to make her life what she wanted it to be. Jay was an irresistible male lead. I know Hope was trying to avoid falling for him, but I don’t think any of us could… I don’t even know Spanish, but his Spanish nicknames for her had me swooning. I loved his character from their very first interaction. I loved how he wanted to help her out before he knew anything about her but he wasn’t overly pushy about it. He let her come to him. The side characters were kind hearted people who brought some humor and entertainment to the story. The whole town was so likable. I’d totally live in Big Bear!

The slow burn romance was excellent, but Love and Lidocaine was so much more than that. Hope and Jay each had their own personal challenges they were trying to work through and the underlying themes were woven so well throughout the story. It was beautifully written. It was entertaining. It was humorous. It was meaningful. The ending was perfection. Don’t even get me started on the plot twists! It was so good! Seriously. I think I’m experiencing a book hangover. I loved reading it so much and now that it’s over, I don’t know what to do. Kendra Hope has done a fantastic job with this story. I can only hope she keeps writing.
