Brody’s great. He loves his job teaching chemistry and running the whitewater rafting program at school. He loves living close to his family in small town Silver Creek, North Carolina, and helping out at the family farm when he’s not busy with work. He’s been dating, but nothing too serious. He’s always had a thing for his best friend growing up. Brody hasn’t seen Kate for years. She works as a travel writer and only comes home every once in a while. One morning, he receives a text from Kate. She’s coming home. The question is, for how long?

Sweet romances are one of my favorite things to read so I really enjoyed this book. I loved that Brody had a thing for Kate all this time and I really liked reading his point of view. I liked Kate a little less… it seemed like she never really considered romantic feelings toward Brody until she came back and noticed his ‘glow up.’ She mentions his physique constantly in her point of view and that made her feelings for him seem less real than the feelings Brody has had for her for years. It’s a minor dislike though. I still really enjoyed the book and I plan to read the next one in the series. This is the first book of four in the Hawthorne Brothers series.
