Picking up shortly after the first book ended, Holly has decided to stay in New York rather than run and hide from her foster brother Collin. Marx, Jordan, and Sam are determined to help protect her no matter what.

Just like Criss Cross, Cross Fire was another wild ride! Just when you think nothing else could possibly go wrong, something does. I love the father daughter relationship that is growing between Holly and Marx. And how Holly is slowly learning that some people can be trusted.

I still feel so bad for Holly and all the crap that she has had to put up with in her life. But she just keeps handling it all like it’s no big deal. To quote Holly herself, she’s “had worse days.” Wild! The poor girl.

In true C.C. Warrens’ fashion this book ended on a nice little cliff hanger. (In all fairness this is only the second book I’ve read from her, so for all I know that’s not her MO but I’m gonna say it is.) So, since the local library still doesn’t carry her books–rude I know–I went ahead and ordered myself the third book. Because I NEED to know what is going to happen next!

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good clean thriller.
