Meg can’t help but find her student’s dad attractive. It won’t be a problem though. Student’s parents and staff members are not allowed to date. Meg loves her job, so she resolves to keep her feelings in check. Tyler has a thing for his son’s teacher. This is the first he’s felt anything towards another woman since his wife died 2 years ago.

I have mixed feelings about this book. On one hand, it was a cute romance and I really enjoyed the characters. Meg is a second-grade teacher. She’s in her later 20’s, I believe. And she’s comfortable acknowledging who she is. For example, she would prefer to stay at home in the evening vs going out to a party. I like that about her. And Tyler is the single dad to a seven-year-old boy, Krew. He owns his own landscaping/property management company. He’s doing his best to take care of his son. My favorite thing about him was how intentional he was about trying to date Meg. He was strategizing! And it was so cute! Reading his perspective on how he was trying to find time with her was so fun. I absolutely loved the two of them together. And Krew, his son, was adorable.

Here is where I struggled with this story:

  1. The grief these characters were dealing with was hard for me to read. I knew that’s likely how I would feel going into this book, so no surprise, I just have to admit that it did influence how I felt about the story. I thought the grief was well addressed throughout. The fact that it made me uncomfortable is my own problem.

  2. No spoilers, so I’ll be vague, but the actions/lack of action from a certain character in the end made me crazy! If you’ve read the book, let me know because I’d love to talk about it to someone in great detail!

Overall, I enjoyed my time reading this book. Honestly, I love a book I get worked up about. It means I was invested. I thought it was a sweet story, it made me laugh out loud, and like I said, I really enjoyed the characters. Check it out.
