Stars, Stripes, and Hockey Nights #2
BY THE DAWN'S EARLY LIGHT

Big Sister

5 Stars
When Hadley runs into a cute guy at the bookstore, she decides she’s got nothing to lose when he asks for her number. He may only be in town for a few weeks, but it could be fun to get to know him a little while he’s here. The last thing she expected was to discover that he’s a professional hockey player, visiting for the Stars and Stripes Hockey Tournament.
I had the best time reading this book. I loved the characters from the very beginning. Hadley and Bryce’s meet-cute was so natural and realistic. He asks for her number, they text, and get together for coffee. It is a bit insta-lovey but they talk like they’ve known each other for years. We could feel their connection right away. I loved the ease they found with each other. Hadley couldn’t care less about sports so she had no idea that Bryce was a professional athlete. He didn’t tell her, and they went out a few times before she found out. I loved the hidden identity aspect to their story. Obviously, Bryce wasn’t straight-up lying to her, he just wanted to get to know her without his hockey fame getting in the way. I loved it.
I love that there was actual hockey being played in this book. It was great. The descriptions of the games made sense and I felt the tense moments while they were playing. The other characters in the story were entertaining. I loved their families, friends, and the other guys on the team. I’m very excited to see how all these character’s stories fit together as I read the other books in the Stars, Stripes, and Hockey Nights series.

This book was utterly adorable! I loved the fact that Hadley had no idea who Bryce was in the beginning and how they met at a book store. I keep lurking around book stores looking for the cute men, but it hasn’t happened for me yet. Don’t worry, I’m not giving up!
I enjoyed the fact that it wasn’t too insta lovey. Yes, he asked her out the first time he met her. But it made sense for it to go that way, and they progressed their relationship in a respectable timeline. I appreciate a book where there is a bit of a slow burn.
I highly recommend this book to any romance readers, and I wouldn’t be opposed to checking out her new series she is basing off of this book.

This was a cute hockey romance story. It didn’t take long to get immersed in the story and care about the characters. I thought the overall plot was well written, and I appreciated the balance between hockey and other aspects of the character’s lives. I love the fact that Hadley and Bryce met in a book store. Who doesn’t want to meet the love of their life surrounded by books? I would definitely read another book written by Tia Marlee.
