Piper swore she’d never date a hockey player again. She learned that lesson the hard way. She loves her job as a physical therapist for the Minnesota Wolves, her favorite team growing up. It hasn’t been hard to keep things professional with the players. That is, until Zeke Lawson walks through the door.

Breakaway to You was a fun hockey romance. I couldn’t help but root for Piper and Zeke from the very beginning. I appreciated the timeline of this story. We covered several months over the hockey season so there was time for the characters to break down the walls they had put up and get to know each other. Zeke and Piper bonded over their past traumas and that helped them realize that maybe they could let someone else in. Their connection was really sweet. I loved that they were willing to open up to each other. And that it was only them. There was no one else they would open up to like that.

The teasing and banter between the characters was entertaining. I loved their texts within the story. The drama with their “relationship” was a little messy. This is probably realistic for their situation. In the book there were rules against dating players and I imagine that could be true to real life. I really didn’t like the ending. I would have preferred a different resolution.

Overall, I enjoyed my time reading Breakaway to You. The characters were relatable and easy to connect with. I love hockey, so I love a hockey romance. If you enjoy a cute sports romance, I would recommend you check it out!
