January is broke, homeless, and in the middle of a writing slump. Her only option is to move into the beach house that her dad left her in his will. Quickly, she learns her new neighbor is her college nemesis and possibly the love of her life. Gus is also a writer and challenges January to trade writing styles with him to help get her out of her slump.

I have heard from multiple people that Emily Henry is a clean author–they couldn’t be more wrong. I realize now that a simple google search would have corrected me on that assumption. I will say that I was quite enjoying the storyline and, spoiler alert, I was convinced that January’s Dad was not having an affair and that it was some huge misunderstanding. I was also wrong there… no surprise at this point. This book got too spicy for my comfort so I ultimately did not finish the book, but I did skip to the end to see how everything wrapped up. If you don’t mind the spice, and by spice I mean a full on descriptive sex scene or possibly scenes, then perhaps this book is for you… but as for me, I’m out.
