A Good Girl's Guide to Murder #3
AS GOOD AS DEAD
HOLLY JACKSON
Middle Sister

3.5 Stars
Pip is still recovering from her most recent investigation and finds herself being stalked. Or maybe she isn’t? That’s what the cops say anyways…
I have very mixed feelings about this book. I wasn’t even sure if I was going to read it after the second book kinda let me down. This book redeemed itself in the storyline but really let me down in the language. Can we not find a different way to express emotions than using the F word? I feel like every time two characters were talking to each other the F word had to be used. The only reason I kept reading is because the storyline kept drawing me back in, especially in the last fourth of the book. I did enjoy where the storyline went in this book. I felt it was thought out or “came full circle” as the book says. Whereas, in the second book, it seemed almost like Holly Jackson was making it up as she went. I think that the only book of this series I would ever read again is the first one. The other two books had a bit too much language for me to enjoy reading them.

Did Not Finish
I can’t lie. I have to tell you that the third book (As Good As Dead) ruined the whole series for me. And I loved the first one! I’m the kind of person who feels guilty for not finishing a book so I have to have a pretty good reason for quitting. And the reason I couldn’t finish this book (without giving away too much) is that it majorly creeped me out. The back of the book tells you that Pip has a stalker so I feel like I can tell you that much. The events that take place maybe a little more than halfway through the book is where I had to call it quits. The descriptions of these events were so incredibly detailed! I couldn’t handle it. I closed the book and looked up the spark notes to see how the story played out. I did want to know how it ended but I just couldn’t read it. I got rid of the books and never watched the show on Netflix like I was looking forward to. If you’re interested in the book but want more specific details about the reason I stopped, feel free to email us and I’ll give you a more specific answer so you can decide for yourself. Honestly, I wish I stopped after the first one.

CONTENT RATING
LANGUAGE

84 F words and use of other profanity.
VIOLENCE/GORE

Very descriptive kidnapping and multiple rememberings of murder from last book. If you can handle Criminal Minds and Dateline you’ll be alright.
SPICE

Male/Female relationship to the extent of kissing. Mention of a female-female relationship.
