Hilarious book club, glue gun mishap, fake marriage with real feelings. Need I say more? I think I will since I’m obsessed with this book. I must warn you, it’s impossible to read A Groom of One’s Own and not fall completely in love with Eli Hopkins. He’s the sweetest guy I’ve ever read about. He’s what I believe the book people would call a ‘Golden Retriever’ main character. He’s thoughtful, affectionate, protective, and extremely extroverted. I loved how he instantly wanted to make Bailey feel loved and special. She deserved to have someone like him in her life. She’s shy but Eli brings out her bold side all while making her feel safe. They really are the most adorable couple! Eli is a hockey player on the Appies Hockey Team and they’re modeled after the Savanah Bananas Baseball Team so that was a fun detail in the book. The comradery between the players is a great aspect of the story. I loved reading their interactions. Lucky for us, there are several books in this series. There were so many moments in this book that made me smile. The characters were fun, their banter was entertaining, and I loved every minute of this book! It truly was an enjoyable read.
