MY RETURN TO THE WALTER BOYS
BOOK VS NETFLIX SERIES SEASON 2

8 Biggest Differences Between My Life with the Walter Boys Season 2 and My Return to the Walter Boys
In the show, Jackie wasn’t planning on going back to Colorado after spending the summer in New York. She was considering boarding school in Vermont until Katherine went to New York and convinced her to go back to Colorado.
Danny and Cole are Seniors in high school in the second season of the show instead of high school graduates. In the book, Danny stays in New York to pursue his acting career and Cole is working several jobs to earn money for college. He’s deferred his acceptance to college in Boulder until he has money for tuition.
Cole is actually nice. He’s thoughtful and sweet throughout the show. You can’t help but love him. In the book, he’s a jerk. Always. Don’t know why Book Jackie likes Book Cole.
The Walters are working on starting a Dude Ranch type resort on their property to save their ranch. Nothing like this going on in the book.
Jackie is pretty involved in school and the community. Not so much in the book.
Alex isn’t dating Kylie/Kim (his best friend from the book and season 1 of the show).
Cole becomes an assistant coach for football. In the book, he wants nothing to do with football and focuses his future on a completely different path.
Alex is training to ride broncs in the rodeo. In the book, I think he just makes out with Kim and drinks energy drinks.

Overall, I'm glad the second season of the show is nothing like My Return to the Walter Boys. The book was painful to read and I didn't need to see it turned into a Netflix series. Check out our book review to see more details on our thoughts about the book. You may be wondering if there is anything similar between the book and the second season of the show. My answer–not really... The main plot is that Jackie's family has passed away and she goes to live with the Walter family, and that is true for the Netflix series. There are small details that are similar, for example, the fact that Jackie is a Junior in high school, or that she likes to run. But as far as the main plot points, the screenwriters have thrown Ali Novak's novel out the window! And for that, I am grateful!
